Hosea’s Redemption of Gomer

1 Then the Lord said to me, “Go again, love ^{▼▼I.e., Gomer}a woman who is loved by her ^{▼▼Lit companion}husband, yet is committing adultery, ^cas the Lord loves the sons of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love ^{▼▼Used in idolatry}raisin ^ecakes.” 2 So I ^fpurchased her for myself for fifteen shekels of silver, and a ^{▼▼About 7.7 cubic feet or 0.22 cubic meters}homer and a ^{▼▼About 3.8 cubic feet or 0.11 cubic meters}lethech of barley. 3 Then I said to her, “You shall ⁱlive with me for many days.
